SAVE A TREE – print handouts from Powerpoint instead of slides!

Welcome back students! The first week of term means everyone is printing – syllabi, lecture notes, and PowerPoint slides. We hope that you’ll print WISELY – think about how much paper you threw away at the end of last term, and resolve to print less!

More and more programs allow you to take notes right in them – including Adobe PDFs and PowerPoint. Ask a Librarian if you don’t know how.

If you MUST print, save paper by printing handouts (3-6 slides per page) instead of one slide per page. Here’s how:

When in PowerPoint:

  1. Click “Print”
  2. In the lower left corner of the Print box, it says “Print what” – click the dropdown menu and choose “Handouts”
  3. Just to the right under “Handouts”, click on the dropdown next to “Slides per page” to choose how many slides to print on a page. A preview will show you exactly how it will look.
  4. Click “OK”

Better yet, go green and don’t print at all – you can access your Blackboard anywhere you have an internet connection!
