Each February since 1976, the U.S. celebrates Black History Month to recognize the achievements and contributions of African-Americans. We’ve put together a display at the reference desk of African-Americans in the arts, but here are some other interesting resources:
- History.com – Black History Month
- Biography.com – Excellent interactive features including timelines, videos and games
- Library of Congress: African-American History Month
- Infoplease: Black History Month
Of course, the library also has many excellent resources on African-Americans and their contributions to American history, arts, culture, business, and the sciences. Check out our trial database the Oxford African American Studies Center, or stop by the reference desk and ask a librarian!
