It may not look like it but we are open!
As you may have noticed, the construction over the summer has affected the library. There is a new entrance to the left of the old one – the Commuter Cafe is accessible from the central stairwell, and the Bookstore is accessible by the central elevator. Temporary walls have been constructed on all four floors, but all library collections are accessible.
We’ve also added a few things over the summer:
New Databases – The library has added several new databases to support the curriculum. They are Criminal Justice Abstracts with Full-Text and Education Research Complete. In addition, end of the 2011 year funds were used to purchase 1955-1988 access to BIOSIS (Biological Abstracts). As I mentioned in the spring we also purchased archival access to JSTOR IV-IX and they become available in January.
Thin Clients – The University is now using thin client technology for its public computers and the library received 16 of these new units over the summer. This should improve security and efficiency – just log in as you always have with your Falcon ID and password.
Library Hours – In response to student comments the library has extended its closing hours to 11:30pm for Sundays-Thursdays for the upcoming semester.
Library Fines- A new policy has been implemented for library fines – you can read our new policy here.
Check back to this blog often to find out everything going on at your library!
